PCI-DAS1602/16

Good board, a little tricky to use in LabView

This is a good, basic DAQ board that performed well in a variety of applications. The InstaCal software is intuitive and has a nice simulation feature that is very valuable for debugging. I had a little trouble building an installer for my software that worked correctly (so that I could install my code on other machines). MCC provides LabView drivers, but you need to jump though a couple hoops to make sure the libraries get bundled in with everything else. I had someone from tech support talk me through it, and after a couple tries we got it nailed down. MCC tech support was excellent. I would recommend using this board, you can get started easily, it's just the installer that tripped me up.

Regrettably, the PCI-DAS1602/16 does not have MAC OS X support. At this time the PCI-DAS1602/16 is supported under Windows® 7/Vista®/XP SP2, 32-bit and for MATLAB we have support under Windows through their Data Acquisition Toolbox (32 bit only). We also have Linux support for the PCI-DAS1602/16.

If I migrate from the PCI-DAS 1602/16 to PCIe-DAS 1602/16 will I need to make any changes to the c++ program?

Thank you for your inquiry. I’m making an assumption that you are using our Universal Library, but I would foresee no changes having to be made to your code. However, there is one possible exception. The analog outputs on the PCI-DAS1602/16 can be hardware paced up to 100 KHz where the analog outputs on the PCIe-DAS1602/16 cannot be (they are software polled). They also use different connectors so your field wiring would need to change.

Hello Daver, thank you for your inquiry. The PCI-DAS1602/16 is a full size PCI card and would be compatible with the (1) 32 bit/33Mhz PCI slot. My recommendation would be to migrate to our PCIe-DAS1602/16 which is compatible with a PCIe x1 slot but will work in an x4,x8, or an x16 PCIe slot as well.
