Do you have a cable to connect 2 boards (PCI-DIO96) on two different PCs (running XP/7 or QNX)? What software should I use to test the communication between the cards (Windows XP or QNX)?

Answers

Thank you for your inquiry. Measurement Computing does not offer a cable that allows for the connection of two PCI-DIO96 boards. However, I did a little research and found that the IO Tech, CA-195 cable will work and allow for the interconnection of your two PCI-DIO96 boards. As for software, we do not have QNX support for our products so consequently you will have to use a Windows based application for your testing. Please BEWARE that if you oppose two digital outputs in your test you can and probably will damage the board(s).

If I am using some of the ports as inputs and some as outputs should I only install pull up resistors on the inputs are does it matter.

Answers

Pull resistors may be useful for both inputs and outputs. But if they not required by your application, they generally pose no problem if they are still installed. For example, most of our USB devices have pull resistors installed by default. For our PCI boards, most do not have any installed by default (which is the case for the PCI-DIO96H that you are using).
